Dells Lions award $1,000 scholarship

Dell Rapids High School senior Adisen Stadem was chosen as the winner of the 2023 Dell Rapids Lions Club scholarship. The $1,000 award is offered to a local high school senior and is based solely on applicants' essays in response to: "The motto of Lions Clubs International is 'WE SERVE.' Please describe how you have served your community." All identifying information is redacted before the applications are reviewed by a panel of Dell Rapids Lions.

Among other activities, Adisen started a group to help students with special needs. She also served as a Study Buddy, helped with the Girls On The Run program, and taught Sunday School. This past year, she and fellow students conducted a donation drive for the Children's Inn.

In middle school, she started a group for kids whose parents were divorced. As such a child herself, she wanted to help other kids who were experiencing the same struggles she had faced in earlier years. She saw a need and stepped up to help.

Adisen will attend Northern State University, majoring in elementary education and psychology.
